TOGETHER21 FAQs
WHAT IS TOGETHER21: TOWARDS EQUITABLE AND DIVERSE COMMUNITIES?
We’re excited to launch our first ever online convention. We wanted to create an opportunity for all community foundation staff and trustees to come together. The focus of our three-day convention is working towards creating equitable and diverse communities. Join us to understand how Equity, Diversity and Inclusion are not just buzz words, they’re not what someone else does, they’re doing words, and whatever role you’re in, they’re your responsibility. Come and listen, learn and be inspired!
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Book your place via our Eventbrite link. The week before Together21 we will email you with a link where you can access our dedicated virtual convention. You will be asked to make a profile and from there you will be able to access the on-demand content, the agenda, pre reading and the live sessions.
WHEN IS TOGETHER21 TAKING PLACE?
Together21 will be taking place over three days (2-4 November). Each day will run from 9:00 - 3:30. We have a number of sessions from grant making to philanthropy and everything in between. Each session will be around 90 mins. There will be regular breaks throughout the day.
I’M CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD CREATE SOME UNCOMFORTABLE CONVERSATIONS
We want this event to be a place for exciting and invigorating conversations about different aspects of equity, diversity and inclusion that are often seen as challenging, charged or taboo. We hope that you will feel inspired and empowered by the stories you hear, and encouraged to share your own thoughts and experiences – and we recognise the courage that this can take.
In order to create a space where everyone feels welcomed, respected and safe we will be asking everyone to follow the collective commitments outlined . This will be sent in advance to all attendees.
I CAN’T MAKE THE WHOLE EVENT – WILL RECORDINGS BE AVAILABLE AFTERWARDS?
Yes. All of the sessions will be recorded and made available to CF staff irrespective of whether they could attend Together21 or not.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND ALL THE SESSIONS?
We’d love it if you did but, as it’s online, we can’t tie you to your chair! The different Together21 sessions are standalone so you can choose the ones you think are most relevant to you and your role. That being said, we would like you to attend as many sessions as possible.
IS TOGETHER21 FREE?
Yes. Together21 is completely free for all members including our overseas members. Thanks to our generous sponsors, EdenTree Investment Management and Brunel Wealth.
IS THIS EVENT COMPLETELY ONLINE?
It certainly is! We hope that by being fully remote, this event will be more accessible to CF staff who may have been unable to attend UKCF events in the past. We’re conscious of zoom fatigue and will be having an online quiz and some on demand wellness sessions to keep you focused.
WHO IS TOGETHER21 FOR?
It’s for everyone! We want to encourage everyone who works for a community foundation to attend Together21. The content has been designed with CF staff of all levels in mind. No matter where you or your community foundation are on your EDI journey, we are confident you will find some valuable learning at Together21. We would like to especially encourage senior CF staff to ensure that more junior members of staff attend the event.
CAN OUR TRUSTEES ATTEND?
Absolutely – they’re very welcome! We would love for you to share the event details with your board and encourage them to attend.
WHY IS THE THEME FOR TOGETHER21 EQUITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION (EDI)?
EDI is a priority for UKCF, our network, and the whole charity sector. Wherever you are on your EDI journey, we know there will be discussions that will be thought provoking. We want to showcase how EDI touches all aspects of a community foundation’s work and show how we all have a role to play.
IS THIS EVENT JUST FOR COMMUNITY FOUNDATIONS?
Yes. Together21 is only for community foundation staff and trustees. Please do not share the registration details with anyone from outside of the community foundation network.
DO I NEED TO PREPARE ANYTHING AHEAD OF TOGETHER21?
There will be an optional preparatory session titled ‘EDI and Me’ on 13th of October from 13:30-15:00, to learn about what EDI is and is not, and why it is so important to us. We will also be providing relevant reading materials.
