Martyn Lewis CBE hosts the Beacon Awards ceremony 2013 at Mansion House
Showcasing best practice in giving
The Beacon Awards were founded in 2003 to showcase best practice in giving and encouraging individual contributions to charitable and social causes. Since 2010 the Beacon Awards have been managed by UK Community Foundations.
In the present economic climate the need for more and better philanthropy is more important than ever. Beacon exists to inspire the expansion of philanthropic work and we now have over 90 Fellows each of whom is a living example of how rewarding a life of effective and strategic philanthropy can be.
In addition to the biennial awards ceremony Beacon also runs a programme of roundtables and other smaller events that offer opportunities for philanthropists to connect with each other in order to share best practice and learn about the best philanthropic work in the UK today.
