Why give through a community foundation?
Setting up a fund with a community foundation allows you to direct your giving to causes you care about. Community foundation staff will handle the admin of receiving grant applications, carrying out due diligence on the charities you give to, preparing a portfolio of options for you to fund and measuring the impact of your funding.
A fund with a community foundation gives you flexibility, access to the expertise of community foundation staff and relieves you of the administrative burden of receiving funding requests and making donations yourself. It also creates a significant cost and time saving compared with setting up your own charitable foundation.
Community foundations can provide tailored philanthropic advice, bespoke grant making programmes to ensure your donations are targeted at charities that make a real difference to the causes you care about, match funding opportunities, opportunities to visit projects and see your funding in action, and access to local networks of philanthropists.
Why give locally?
Giving to help your local community thrive can be a hugely rewarding experience. There's a unique sense of satisfaction in knowing that you are making a real difference to the lives of others, especially close to home.
