CFN is delighted to report that Community First has had a successful first year, raising £8.7 million. With match funding, this means over £17 million has been raised to create a legacy of support for communities.
Stephen Hammersley, CFN’s chief executive, comments: “This is a fantastic achievement. The aim of the Community First programme is to help neighbourhoods become more self-reliant and grow their capacity to make the changes they want to see in their area, and this first £17 million of endowed funding is a great start..”
Community foundation endowment now stands at £281 million across England – comprising over 3,000 active, engaged donors.
The Community First Programme runs until April 2015, and during 2012-2013 a further £15 million of matched funding is available offering people who want to establish Community First endowed funds a bonus of £1 for every £2 donated.
Do you want to change something or improve the lives of people in your community? Community First can help you support your area now and in the years to come.
